Netzwerktheorie: elektrisches Schaltelement, das durch drei Klemmen mit anderen Schaltungsteilen verbunden ist; geht aus einem Vierpol hervor, wenn bei diesem eine Eingangs- und eine Ausgangsklemme durch eine durchgehende Massenverbindung kurzgeschlossen sind. Die in der Nachrichtentechnik verwendeten Vierpole sind in diesem Sinn fast immer Dreipole.
